ERIL subscribers include staff from reference, instruction, technical services, systems, and other areas - and probably some who do all of the above. Examples of issues covered include: collection development policy, electronic journal holdings, use statistics, licensing and negotiation, product set-up and maintenance, instruction, and specific product issues. At this time ERIL is limited to librarians and library assistants and does not accept subscription requests from vendors, publishers, consultants or other related professionals. The main reasons the list is currently limited in this way are 1) to prevent the list from being overwhelmed with a large volume of mail from vendors either advertising or defending their products and 2) to enable free discussion about particular products.
